This piece was made with black stoneware clay that remained unglazed on the outside and lustre fired. This firing is  one of the most elusive, unpredictable and shiny of the alternative in ceramics. For the result to occur as above extreme timing, a few prayers, and some sugar and horse hair need to be thrown into the burning kiln at exact temperatures.
